Why LinkedIn for B2B businesses?
On most platforms you buy reach to an audience and hope the right people are somewhere inside it. On LinkedIn you address the VP of operations at a 200-employee industrial company from the outset — because he declared his role, his company and his seniority himself.
That difference changes the whole economics of the campaign. Cost per click on LinkedIn is higher than on Facebook or Google, sometimes several times higher. But in B2B, where a single deal is worth tens or hundreds of thousands of shekels, the relevant metric is not what the click cost but who clicked it.
What is the difference between organic activity and paid promotion?
Most companies pick one of the two and lose out. The two do entirely different things and work well together.
The formula that works: consistent organic content that builds the ground, and paid promotion switched on for the stages where there is something to sell.
| Organic content | Paid promotion | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Builds authority and trust over time | Generates reach and leads now |
| When results appear | Months | Days to weeks |
| What happens when you stop | The asset remains, the pace drops | Everything stops immediately |
| Marginal cost | Time and writing | Direct media budget |
| Best for | Positioning, expertise, employer branding | Launches, events, lead generation |
How much does a LinkedIn campaign cost in Israel?
There is no single price, and anyone quoting a number without asking questions is selling you a template. What can be said with certainty: a small budget cannot absorb dispersion. It works when you narrow to one audience, one message and one format, and measure strictly. A budget spread across five audiences and four messages will not produce enough data to learn anything from.
An example from the field: at Yaskawa Israel, a budget of ILS 40,000 over 120 days produced hundreds of leads and a closed deal worth tens of thousands of euros. Not a huge budget — focus.
What are the common mistakes?
Targeting that is too broad or too narrow. Too broad burns budget on irrelevant people; too narrow does not give LinkedIn enough volume to optimise.
Optimising for lead volume instead of lead quality. It is easy to lower cost per lead — you simply lower the sign-up bar. Later you discover none of them are ready.
A company page used as a noticeboard. Posts about birthdays and office renovations do not build professional authority with a decision maker.
Expecting a short sales cycle. In B2B several decision makers are involved and the process is long. Anyone measuring only the first month will draw the wrong conclusion.
Stopping organic activity the moment the paid activity begins. That is exactly the moment the audience checks who you are.
When is LinkedIn not right for your business?
If your target audience is not professionally present on LinkedIn — for example very small business owners in certain industries, or a clearly consumer audience — the budget will work better elsewhere.
If your product sells in a single transaction of a few hundred shekels, the LinkedIn cost per click will not pay for itself.
And if you have nothing to say — no distinct product, no unique knowledge, no angle — no platform will solve that. Better to hear it before you start.
How is success measured?
Leads are an intermediate metric, not the goal. The full chain is measured like this: quality reach, engagement, lead, qualified opportunity, pipeline. The metrics are defined together with you at the start of the engagement and tied to your CRM, so that at the end of the quarter you know not how many leads came in but how many of them turned into something.
How long until results appear?
The first signals — impressions, engagement, cost per click — appear within a few weeks. Real pipeline takes longer, because the B2B buying cycle is long and involves several decision makers. The goal is an asset that accumulates, not a one-month sprint.
