GEO — Your Brand's Visibility in AI Answers

GEO, short for Generative Engine Optimization, is the discipline concerned with whether AI-based answer engines — ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews — mention and cite your brand in the answers they generate. That is a different question from Google ranking: a results page has ten organic slots; a model's answer has three or four names.

Answer Share: the metric we work by

Answer Share is the percentage of answers in which your brand is mentioned, out of a fixed set of questions your audience actually asks.

We defined it because without a metric there is no profession. "Being in AI" is not a measurable goal; "rising from 8% to 31% answer share across twelve purchase questions in your industry, on four engines" — that is a goal you can work to, report on and fail at openly.

The calculation: the number of answers in which the brand was mentioned, divided by the total answers checked, times one hundred. Measured on a fixed question set, across four engines, weekly. The question set is locked at the start of the work and does not change — otherwise there is no comparison.

    Why this is not SEO

The practical point: the barrier to entry for GEO is significantly lower than for SEO. A young domain can be mentioned alongside a veteran one, if its entity is clearer and consistent external mentions exist for it. That is the window, and it will not stay open forever.

    What actually matters

Whether the bots can read you at all. Answer-engine crawlers do not run JavaScript. A site whose entire content loads client-side is served to them as a blank page. That is the first check we run on every account, and usually also the first surprise — beautiful, modern sites are the main casualties.

Whether you are one entity or five. The same brand appearing under several spellings and several profiles, with no mechanism linking them, is to the model several weak entities instead of one strong one. Entity unification is the least glamorous and most worthwhile work here.

Third-party mentions. Models do not cite your "About" page. They cite lists, articles, interviews, podcasts and forums. Most of the real GEO work happens outside your site.

Content that can be quoted. A single data point in a standalone sentence is a unit of citation. An eight-line marketing paragraph is not. Tables, definitions and numbers get absorbed; superlatives do not.

    How we work

Gap mapping. We build the question set your audience actually asks, run it across the four engines, and measure the opening answer share. We identify both where you are absent and where you appear incorrectly — wrong category placement, attribution to a competitor, outdated information.

Infrastructure repair. Crawler accessibility, schema, entity unification, internal linking.

Producing citable content. Sections, pages and structured data that close the mapped gaps — in your brand's voice, in the format models prefer.

Impact verification. Every change is checked against the engines before and after, so we know what moved and what did not.

For the measurement and verification layer we work in partnership with a dedicated AI Perception Intelligence platform, which enables gap mapping and impact testing at a scale manual work cannot reach.

When GEO is not right for you

If you have no digital presence at all — no site, no mentions, no content — there is nothing to build an entity from, and you need to start with the basics.

If your category is so niche that nobody asks a language model about it, the metric will be zero even after excellent work.

And if you are looking for a result within two weeks — GEO is faster than SEO, but it is not immediate.
